I have never seen a cat like this before and thought it was soo cool.

This was alot of fun to do because it was a whole new challenge I've never had before working from a photo of a black and white tattoo and making it into color.

I only had the photo and breed of dogs they are.

Started a new painting of tulips

Just a rough draft of the drawing on a canvas. it's a odd size canvas someone gave me when they were cleaning out their supplies. Always knew I'd find something to put on it lol

My kids had bought me some tulips last year and I went around taking photos of them for days in different stages and angles. I always wanted and planned on doing a series of paintings from them. Well here is the start! I have several planned but this is the one that really stood out to me for this canvas.

Can't wait to see what magic happens when I add the paint.

This is so easy and fun to do with your child. I had my daughter help me with this to give to her teachers tommorrow on her last day of school.

We simply painted her hand and laid it down and simply made it into a flower. Added a stem some leaves. Decorated the top which you can decorate any way you want. I didn't want to paint a band because her hand overlapped the lip alittle. OOPS.

Secondly on the back wrote something simple: Thank you for helping me Grow

Simply using acrylic paints available at any craft store

I also varnished it with exterior matt by Delta Ceramcoat

Working on New Painting of a Baseball

I'm going to put this up for auction when it's done if I like it in hopes of raising money for my sons Cooperstown Baseball tournament in New York this summer. He gets to play for one week in the American Youth baseball Hall of Fame Invitational Tournament.

Botanical Gardens here in Pinellas County

Yesterday I took some time and went to the Botanical Gardens here in Pinellas County, FL to take photos for this summer to work from. I found some of the most gorgous colors there. It was alot of fun. A friend went with me and we talked girl talk while walking around taking photos. I left very inspired

On a photo taking excursion this week

Ok it's spring break so while me and the kids are keeping busy I'm making it work also. Taking lots of photos to work from . Like yesterday we went to a local park where you can feed the turtles. There are tons of them! Got some great turtle pics. I can't wait to have time to paint them. Today we are heading to http://www.co.pinellas.fl.us/bcc/Heritage/default.htm Heritage Village. This is one of my favorite places to go. I've never really taken photos there except at the civil war days. So I'm hoping to get some good photos of the buildings to work from. They are so beautiful. I urge you to check it out if your ever in the area. Tommorrow we're on the search for gators. Can't wait to get some good photos of them. There are some local parks where there are just alot of them. After that no one knows where we will end up. Maybe the botanical gardens.

Even if you aren't a artist or you are. Take the time to really look at your surroundings. It's amazing what you will find on a regular outting when you least expect it

Almost the new year! Been Busy in studio

Hi everyone. It's almost 2009. This year has flown by. Alot has been going on in the studio. I got done all of my orders for the holiday and took about a week off. I started a new watercolor portrait of a family friend. I am also in the middle of a new dog portrait.

Uses for terra cotta pots in the home

I have just done a neat order for a local church for the youth. They asked me to take 2 terra cotta pots, put their design on them and they put a childs name on a popsicle stick and they all start off in one pot and as they pray for the children they move their sticks to the other pot is full

I also have come up with a few others as well.... including
Prayer pots where it has a lid and you can write your prayers and place them in the pot and pull them out when you want to pray for them.

Also they make wonderful additions to your kitches as coffee filter holders.

Just some new ideas I wanted to share.

Stepping out into ACEO world

What is a ACEO?
They are paintings the size of approx a baseball card. I have started doing some and sold a few and I have to say they are great for getting a idea for something I would like to do a full painting of. Like the Orchid and Flamingo ones I have done. They gave me a great idea for some new paintings based on those tiny little ones.

Some people collect them. Some frame these tiny little works and decorate shelves, walls etc. Great for small spaces and give a big impact.

Well I went shopping for supplies and got everything I need to start my new line of collage decor art. This first one I'm working on is called Dream in purples, pinks and blues. It's Done!

Ok I had this order for a Ornament with a portrait on it and i was so picky with it and it was just about done when it slipped out of my hand and smashed on my tile floor. I just wanted to scream. Not the first time that has happened but not a portrait one. I'm sooo careful and I just slipped. Anyway I just finished it for the second time. Woo hoooo I didn't drop it! Just now I have to get that second coat of varnish on and carefully set it down to dry. Then in a half hour I can carefully pick it up and take it to get packed up and shipped out tommorrow.

1. Great to use at weddings on the table to hold cards and then you can use at your new home.

I did it. I just bought another domain for my new site I'm working on http://www.jillsclipart.com I'm sooo excited. I'm going to have my original clipart for sale and also custom work and logo design.

I just had to tell someone. I'm about to burst i'm so excited. This is huge for me. I've been wanting to do this for a while now and i finally jumped. Wish me luck!

New Services for the New Year

Hi everyone: I'm so excited about the new year and my biz. I have lots of things in store and going to have many more original Paintings for sale this year. With all the gift things I've neglected to do those except for the portraits commissioned. That is one of my goals this year to get back to my paintings. Also I have alot of great services which I"ve always done but never really advertised.

Weddings, showers, get togethers, corporate gifts and more! Also if your a real estate agent or in the travel biz you can have custom made gifts made for your clients. I"ve done real estate gifts this past year for a few agents and now I"m offering this service to the travel biz. Custom gifts to be sent to your client at their destination. What a way to be remembered for future bookings!

So it will be another exciting year here at jillsartwork.com I also am working to start a clip art side to the biz as well.

So excited

We just went for a few days of vacation which was last minute but we went to Hilton Head South Carolina. Wow it is beautiful there. I took tons of wonderful reference photos. I can not wait to get started on some new paintings from there. It will have to wait till after the holiday rush though of course and after all of my orders are done but I'm so excited. We also stopped at Fort McAllister in Georgia. I had so much fun. Took lots of pictures. I want to do a series of civil war paintings and I got some great photos. It was a gorgous day there that is for sure. Can't wait to go back.

Have you been to either of those places?

Christmas Orders rolling in

Well I have more ornaments I want to get designed like my wolf and haven't had the time. Which is a good thing in one respect. I'm starting to get my Christmas orders rolling in keeping me busy. I just hope people don't wait till last minute like every other year. I have to turn them down come December due to time restraints and orders book up. I'm the only painter here and people sometimes forget that I think. I also have some new cards to design. Tons of ideas just need alittle more time. Is it possible to add more hours in a day yet? Lol

Working on shells

Well I'm busy working on painting on shells. Lighthouses on sanddollars and yesterday I finished a new one of a clown fish. I'm pretty proud of this one. I think it came out cute.
I'm excited about this holiday season. I have been working on a lot of new ornaments. I have a few more lined up for this weekend to get done. I'd love to hear what you would like to see.
